What we do with your details.

Nothing is collected until you fill something in. There are four moments.

When you book a free first class

• The learner's name, age and gender. Both are asked for one reason: a girl of eleven or over is only ever taught by a female teacher, and neither the rule nor the age it turns on can be honoured without knowing.
• Their current reading level and the language they would like to be taught in.
• Which plan you chose, or that you asked for a sponsored place.
• Your name, phone number and email address, so a teacher can reach you and so you can sign in to the app.

When you apply to teach

• Your name, phone number, email address, languages, what you teach and when you are free.
• Your ijazah or sanad, and an identity document (Aadhaar or PAN), uploaded so a person can verify you before you are ever put in front of a child.
• Your UPI id and bank account, so families and sponsors can pay you directly. Iqra never holds this money and never takes a cut.

When you sponsor a learner

• Your name and phone number, and which seat you reserved.
• Your name and number are given to the teacher you are paying, so the two of you can settle the fee. They are never given to the family.

When you ask for a sponsored place

• Whatever you choose to tell us about your situation. This note is read by the teaching desk and by nobody else. It is never shown to a sponsor, never shown on any public page, and never attached to a learner's profile.

• Classes are not recorded. No audio, no video, ever, of any class. There is no recording to request, to leak or to be subpoenaed, because none is made.
• No payment card details, ever. Iqra takes no payments, so there is nothing to store. Families pay their teacher directly.
• No tracking or advertising cookies, and no third-party analytics or advertising pixels on this website.

The list is short and it is enforced in the code that reads the database, not by convention.

• Your matched teacher sees the learner’s name, age, gender, level and language, and how to reach you about the class.
• Iqra’s teaching desk sees what you have entered, in order to match, verify and answer you.
• A sponsor sees a learner’s first name, their track and their progress, and nothing else. Never a surname, a phone number, an email address, an address, a document or the note you wrote about your situation.

Nothing about a family is sold, rented, or shared for advertising. There is no advertising on Iqra.

Iqra is small and runs on ordinary services rather than its own machines. Each of these holds data only in order to run the product.

• Neon, for the database that stores everything above.
• Vercel, which serves this website and the learner app.
• Cloudflare R2, for the identity and qualification documents teachers upload. That bucket is private, and the files are only ever served through an admin-gated route, never a public URL.
• Google, for signing in to the learner app, for the calendar invitation to a class, and for Google Meet, which is where classes are held.
• Resend, for the few transactional emails Iqra sends, such as a booking confirmation.
• MSG91, when a one-time sign-in code is sent by SMS or WhatsApp.

Some of these companies store data on servers outside India. That is said here rather than left to be discovered, because it is true of most ordinary internet services and a family is entitled to know it. Each of them is used only to run the product, and none of them is given anything about a family for its own purposes.

Most learners on Iqra are children, and their details are given to us by a parent or guardian, not by them. Iqra does not let a child create an account, does not ask a child for anything directly, and shows no advertising to anyone.

A parent can see everything held about their child, ask for any of it to be corrected, and ask for the account and its history to be deleted. Write to us and it will be done.

Consent for a child is given by the parent or guardian who fills in the booking form, from their own phone number and email address, and it can be withdrawn from that same address at any time. There is no further verification step, and this page will not describe one that is not actually run.

A booking, a learner record and a teacher’s verification documents are kept while the account is in use. Ask for deletion and the account and its personal details are removed.

Two things are kept even after that, and it is fair to say so plainly. A record of payments between a sponsor and a teacher is kept, because both of them may need to show what was sent. And a safeguarding concern is kept, because a record that can be deleted on request is not a safeguarding record at all.

No fixed number of months or years is given here. Stating a period that the product does not actually enforce would be worse than stating none. What can be said is that asking is enough, and that asking is the only step there is.

Write to iqrahome11@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and say what you would like. A person reads it. You do not need a form or a particular wording, and you will not be asked why.

What can be asked for:

• A copy of everything held about you and your child.
• Correction of anything recorded wrongly.
• Deletion of the account and the personal details in it, apart from the two records named above.
• Withdrawal of consent, which stops the classes and begins the deletion.

There is no separate grievance officer to name, because there is no company behind Iqra and no staff to hold such a post. That address reaches the person who runs Iqra directly. Every message of this kind is answered. No statutory deadline is promised here, because a deadline this desk cannot honestly keep is worth less than a reply that actually comes. If a request has gone unanswered, send it again and say that it is a second attempt.
